Firstly, tell us the story behind this image. What inspired you to shoot it?

This image evokes a long period of reconstruction and introspection. With this double exposure, I wanted to show the strength that lies within each of us in the face of life's trials. The tree printed by the double exposure appears like a backbone, a stable structure, a stronger version of myself.

Did you come across any challenges?

To get this image, I first had to under-expose the film by half a stop. I regularly work with a Sekonic light meter in order to create precision. First I took a photo of the tree and then, using a mirror, I took my self-portrait so as to superimpose the two images that I had composed in my mind seeking a symmetrical effect.

What process did you use?

This double exposure was taken in daylight from the balcony of my flat using FP4 plus film at iso 200. Aperture F5.6. Exposure time 1/250.

How did you process it

After shooting, I developed the film using ILFOSOL 3 and adjusted the development time to achieve the correct exposure and I scanned the film with Epson V600. I was satisfied with the result.
